Track Your Spending

Once you’re registered for Online Access, you’ll be able to keep track of your current account spending through our Online Banking or Mobile App services. If you’re not registered for Online Access, you can do so by clicking here.

How To Get Started

If you are already registered for Online Access, simply login to your Online Account and select New Current Account from the balances screen to open an account. A member of staff will then review your application for approval.

Joint Current Account applications must be made in person at one of our five branches. Members under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent/guardian when opening a current account.

The Small Print

Concessions

Students aged 16 to 25 years inclusive may be eligible to apply for a fee concession if they are pursuing a verified full time (21+ hours per week) course of study for one or more years. Senior Members aged 66 years and over may receive a fee concession where there is a verified date of birth on their account. Further details on fee concessions are available at the counter, terms and conditions apply. In compliance with rules & legislation, in order to open the Current Account, your account must have up to date due diligence documents - Photo ID, Proof of Address and Proof of PPSN. The Debit Card is issued by Transact Payments Limited pursuant to licence by Mastercard® International.

Overdraft Facility

Altura Credit Union's Current Account means you can add an overdraft facility to ease times when money is tight. In addition to having this buffer, you're also getting excellent value. Debit interest is charged at just 12% per annum on our overdraft facility, compare that to other providers, you will find it's one of the best on the market.

If you would like an overdraft facility on your Current Account, you can apply for this online or in-branch.

 

Exceptions

Current Accounts are not available on Business, Club/Society, charity or minor accounts (Under-16). Any members aged Under 18 must be accompanied by a parent.

Current Account FAQs

Is there an Overdraft Facility?

Yes. There is the option to apply for the Overdraft Facility when you open your Current Account. Overdraft applications are subject to credit assessment.

Can I get my wages paid into the Credit Union?

Yes, you just need to give your employer your BIC and IBAN for your Altura Credit Union Current Account and they will schedule your payments to be paid to your account.

Can I withdraw from all ATM's?

Yes. You will have a globally recognised Mastercard ® Debit Card that can be used at all ATM’s and at point of sale.

What are your charges for Current Accounts?

Our Current Account has a set monthly maintenance fee of €4. For more information on fees and charges, please click here.

I would like to receive my Social Welfare payments into my Current Account.

To do this, all you need to do is give the Social Welfare your new BIC and IBAN which will be supplied when you open your Current Account.

The minimum overdraft amount we can issue is €200 and the maximum is €5,000 per member. Overdrafts are available to current account holders aged 18 years and over. Lending criteria, terms and conditions apply. Members must achieve 30 days in credit in the 12 Month period commencing with the first debit balance day of the overdraft. There is a €25 set-up charge for an overdraft, then a €25 annual fee. However, Current Account from Altura Credit Union does not charge surcharge interest. Overdrafts are payable on demand to Altura Credit Union Ltd.
