May Bank Holiday Weekend - Electronic Payments
Important: Payment Delays Over May Bank Holiday Weekend
Altura Credit Union is advising members to plan ahead for upcoming payment delays due to European May Day (Friday 1st May).
Although Friday, 1st May is a normal working day in Ireland, it is a public holiday across much of Europe. This means that standard electronic euro payments, including SEPA* transfers, will not be processed on this date.
If you are expecting a euro payment on Friday, 1st May, please be aware that it may not arrive until Tuesday 5th May/Wednesday, 6 May due to the European holiday and the following Republic of Ireland bank holiday on Monday May 4th.
What you need to know:
- Payments sent or expected on 1st May may be delayed until 6 May.
- This applies to transfers within Ireland and across Europe.
SEPA* Instant and Zippay payments will continue to process as normal.
We strongly encourage members to take action now—send important payments early and allow extra time for funds to reach their destination. Bear in mind, your wages/salary and or welfare payments due over the weekend may well be delayed also.
Bear in mind, different institutions will have different arrangements in place. Even though we are working on Friday & Saturday as normal, other providers could impact any transfers that are not SEPA* Instant Payments.
*SEPA = Single Euro Payment Area
