Scam Alert: Fake €1,500 “Energy Grant” Text Message Targeting Credit Union Members
Altura Credit Union is warning members about a recent scam involving fraudulent text messages and attempts to steal online banking information.
A member received a text claiming long‑standing Credit Union members were entitled to a €1,500 energy grant.
The message included a link to a bogus website that asked for parts of their PIN and personal details.
We know that if the scam had not been spotted in time, the fraudster would have followed up with a phone call, pretending to be Altura Credit Union and requesting a One-Time Passcode (OTP) to gain access to the account.
Thankfully, the member noticed the red flags and contacted us immediately — preventing any loss.
