New Roundwood Branch Open
Altura Credit Union Celebrates the Grand Opening of New Roundwood Branch with An Taoiseach Simon Harris
Altura Credit Union was thrilled to welcome An Taoiseach, Simon Harris, as the distinguished guest for the official opening of its new, purpose-built branch on Main Street in Roundwood.
The invitation for An Taoiseach to perform the ribbon-cutting ceremony came after a conversation with Tom Brennan, Head of Business Development & Marketing, at the Tinahely Agricultural Show. We were overjoyed when An Taoiseach agreed to take time out of his busy schedule—having flown in from the States that morning—to join us for this significant event. He delivered an engaging speech and made sure to connect with attendees over a cup of tea.
The celebration was further enlivened by East Coast FM, which provided entertainment, face painting, and prizes given away (provided by Altura). Our dedicated volunteers, along with Management & Staff, were on hand throughout the day to serve refreshments and engage with those in attendance.
Chair of the Board of Directors, Tom Finn, welcomed both existing and potential members to the new branch. He emphasized Altura's strong ties to Roundwood and its commitment to serving the community, both in-person and through our popular digital channels. Mr Finn also took a moment to remember our beloved colleague, Anne Forsyth, who retired and sadly passed away just a year ago. A cherished part of Altura's 30-year history in Roundwood, Anne dedicated 28 of those years to our mission.
CEO Barry Monaghan actively engaged with members and visitors, ensuring everyone felt welcome and included in the celebrations. He was joined by Directors James Kavanagh and Edna O'Connor, as well as Pat Kavanagh, Head of ICT, who made sure all systems were running smoothly. Tom Fortune, our Head of Facilities and the architect behind the branch, attended to witness his design come to life. Regular staff members Sandra Moules and Aysha Coates were also present, assisting members with their needs and enquiries.
As Altura celebrates 30 years of service to Roundwood and its surrounding communities, the new branch—featuring a 24/7 ATM, the only always-accessible ATM in the area—offers a bright, spacious environment designed to serve generations to come.
The Roundwood branch is now open Monday, Friday, and Saturday, with online, phone, and ATM services available during off-hours. Members can also utilise any of Altura's other branches as needed, if digital or telephone options do not suffice.
This investment in the Roundwood branch underscores Altura's commitment to serving its members for generations to come.
Altura Credit Union extends its heartfelt thanks to An Taoiseach, East Coast FM, the Board, Staff, Volunteers, and everyone who attended, making this occasion truly special.
